The book’s authors include Kim Laidlaw, an award-winning cookbook editor and professional baker (per KQED); Jody Revenson, author of several books about the “Harry Potter” film series, and Caroline Hall, an art director, producer, stylist, and thrower of “over-the-top parties.” They divide the 192-page book into two parts: The first is all about the food. There are recipes and instructions for 50 different appetizers, entrees, desserts, drinks, and snacks inspired by the movie, like sweet-and-salty popcorn in colors that match Sally’s patchwork dress and Oogie Boogie cupcakes with ghostly marshmallow frosting. Some of the dishes are sugar-free, gluten-free, or vegetarian to help party hosts accommodate every guest.
